Vauxhall F Type Victor – Restored/ Stunning
The original Victor launched in 1957 featured heavily curved/ cut windscreen & rear windows, lots of chrome, large/ pointed rear fin styling, bench seat/ column gear change and two-tone body colour schemes all ‘stolen’ directly from the classic ’57 Chevrolet Bel Air. This eye-catching car was an instant success in 1958 but corrosion took a heavy toll on the car and today examples are very hard to find – and cars in this condition almost impossible.
Milestone Classics are delighted to offer one of the best Victors on the market today. Our car was originally purchased by Hazel Gilbert during the summer of 1960 and used sparingly until she gave up driving in the late 1990’s.
During 2008 the car was liberated from under the dust sheets and passed into the hands of a Vauxhall Club member who recognised he had the soundest F Type that he had ever seen.
Over the next two years the car went through a full recommissioning that included:
· Car stripped and any corrosion identified removed/ replaced with new metal
· Resprayed in original combination of Royal Blue/ Silver Grey (cellulose)
· Gearbox removed. New clutch & core plugs fitted.
· Mechanical components checked/ overhauled/ replaced as necessary
· New window rubbers all round
· Chrome re-plated
· Interior re-upholstered (Leather) and new carpets
Today the Victor is just how we (and Milestone customers) like our cars. The restoration has mellowed superbly with excellent paint/ panel fit all complemented by lovely chrome.
Mechanically the car starts first time and on the road the Victor is a pleasure to drive with strong engine, super smooth/ easy column gear change and excellent steering, brakes, suspension.
The light blue leather interior/ replacement carpets/ roof lining are outstanding - it is like stepping back in time.
The history file contains history of ownership, old MOT’s (oldest 1982), invoices from the restoration, original sale brochure etc.
This Victor is Ideal for an enthusiast looking for a classic to use and enjoy at 50’s revivals/ jive festivals, car shows, weekends away and is absolutely perfect for the Goodwood Revival car park.
