Here at Old Colonel Cars we have an excellent example of the 1979 MGB GT V8. This is a very special car, its had a small fortune spent on it making a very usable, classic car. This MGB comes with an amazing service history, all paperwork from new, taking up 2 full A4 folders.
This was for may years a well known show car, winning many concourse events, many condition awards. It started life as a GT1800, but In 2002, with a mileage of just 42, 000, it was reverted to a 3. 5 V8 engine, twin SU carbs and a RV8 five speed gearbox. Mileage today is around 85, 000, so very low mileage for the year.
Along with this perfect choice of engine, many further improvements were made to make this a much better, daily driving example. The exhaust was modified to a full stainless steel item, with better flow. Handling was updated with larger front anti roll bars, negative camber wishbones with Gaz shocks all round. Other improvements include electronic ignition, high torque starter, variable power steering, electric windows, variable wipers, rear wiper, central locking..
The car is finished in the original ‘Inca Yellow’ colour. The paintwork all over this car is excellent. Look closer, this is a superb, solid and rust free example. The bonnet is a ‘Supersports’ item, with vents etc. The front bumper has been improved to give this car a better look and save some weight as well.
Inside this car features full Grey leather, all in lovely condition, new carpets etc.
The best bit about this car is how the whole package comes together. It drives extremely well, plenty of power and noise form the superb V8, lovely, precise gear changes, very well set up suspension, brakes and of course, power steering. But if you want to really use this car and enjoy it, you will also appreciate the lovely heater, adjustable wipers, comfortable and hard wearing leather seats, Minulite alloys that allow the fitment of modern tyres.
This MG does not feel like the normal, fragile 1979 classic, its gives you the confidence to jump in and enjoy it.
