Beskrivning
This is no ordinary XJS, it's very very rare: in total, only 64. The Insignia’s were bespoke and hand-built by the Jaguar's SVO (Special Vehicles Operations) department to satisfy the most demanding customers.
This XJS Insignia was first registered in 1995 in Berlin by a German baron who kept it for 9 years. The second owner, an Austrian citizen, kept it for 12 years. I have owned this car since 2015. Matching numbers, this XJS Insignia is unspoiled, fully original. No accident, every body panel perfectly aligned with its original paint, the original stripes and Insignia logos are present of course. Original Jaguar booklet, jack, toolbox and alloy spare wheel. Not surprisingly after 27 years, some tiny paint chips or scratches can be seen upon close inspection on the paintwork and inside the engine compartment. But chromes in perfect order and not a single scratch on the original wheels ! No visible rust, even in the areas usually affected such as the bodywork around the struts, underbody, sills or window frames. This Insignia was mostly dry used and always stored in a garage, the chassis and body are in outstanding condition.
Equipped with the six-cylinder AJ6 engine, robust and modern even by today's standards : DOHC and 4-valve per cylinder: easy to maintain, frugal, torquey and silky. Mated to the ZF4HP24 automatic gearbox with normal and sport modes and speed regulation. Engine, transmission, handling, steering, braking, electrics, heating, cooling, air conditioning... everything functions nominally. The ride is smooth: no rattles, no squeaks, no looseness, exceptional comfort ! 135, 000 km, regularly serviced by Jaguar specialists (invoices and booklet).
The stunning Amethyst Blue colour was only available on Insignia models. Not only does this Insignia have the full equipment list of the latest XJS model (facelift bodywork with full anti-corrosion treatment, limited slip differential, 16" five-spoke alloys, outboard rear brakes, electrically operated windows and door mirrors, driver and passenger airbags) but it also has a few extras such as the original front fog lights, sport suspension, remote central locking, upgraded automatic climate control with pollen and odour filters, special heated and electrically operated front seats with lumbar cushion and memory, and the powerful original Alpine Jaguar audio system with CD changer. In addition, all the most luxurious distinguishing features offered by the Insignia range : full Autolux leather trimming in a subtle two-tone Pale and Dark Stone with detailed stitching and piping (this thick, soft-grained and supple aniline leather produced by Connolly was only available on the most luxurious makes of cars such as Rolls, Aston or Maserati), rare Bird's Eye Red Maple wood trim, period Alpine Jaguar surround sound system, detailed refinements, such as the specially shaped wooden gear knob, abound (only a few Insignia's have this complete set), all materials original and in outstanding condition.
With the AJ6 engine, and in rare LHD configuration, there were only 9 XJS Insignia produced worldwide! NINE. A real collector not to be missed!
