This exceptional, low mileage, UK supplied British Racing Green MG RV8 must be one of the very best we have ever come across. L555 MGR has covered just 15, 600 miles from new and spent 18 years with the same family. The car was supplied new by Appleyards Rover in Hemworth and was first registered on the 12th November 1993. The RV8 had its first service at 1123 miles with its supplying dealership, and by 2002 it had covered just 5800 miles.
The MG comes to us in exceptional condition and with a superb history folder detailing all the work done during in its cosseted life. In July 2002 at 5800 miles the MG had its first non-routine maintenance having the rear shock absorbers removed, cleaned, painted and re-fitted, the underside was also undersealed. In November 2002 the front suspension was stripped, cleaned, painted, and re-fitted. The rear suspension and back axle were also cleaned and repainted. Even the battery box was protected by the application of cavity wax. Between January and March 2018 the front suspension and cross member were removed, bead blasted, powder coated and all bushes replaced with superior polyurethane bushes. The MG was also fitted with new brake pipes, clutch master cylinder seals and the alloy wheels were professionally refurbished.
The servicing records have been well documented at 1123, 5850, 6920, 7380, 8010, 10500, 12500, 13700 and 15380 and most recently at 15575 miles, and MOT certificates are with the car from 1997. The superbly documented history file also includes a list of events and owner runs the MG has taken part in which include the MGOC Bunyan Run, Lincolnshire Wander, MGOC Snowdrop Run, Cobblers Run and in October 2017 the MG covered 517 miles on a run to the Derbyshire Dales.
This MG RV8 is an exceptionally fine original car with superb body panels and lovely paintwork. The interior is just fabulous with beautiful leather, superb carpets, door cards and dashboard. The hood is excellent, and the windscreen surround, very often rust-prone on this model is also perfect. The engine bay is superbly detailed, the boot incredibly clean and on the road as expected with just 15600 miles the drive is absolutely first class. The V8 engine, five speed gearbox and axle are all as one would expect of such a very low mileage car. The underbody, superbly detailed and with powder coated suspension, is impressive. The MG comes with all its original handbooks and wallet, invoices, MOT certificates, MGRV8 Manufacturing book, original brochure and a beautifully presented folder with photos and maintenance history. As an ultra-low mileage, UK supplied RV8 with the distinctive registration plate, this is surely a specimen example for the discerning collector.
