Recent work:
June 2020 (Century Classics, Hungerford), totalling £2700. 00
- Seats and carpets removed. Old insulation cleaned and surface corrosion on floor panels treated
- Dynamat sound and heat insulation applied, followed by further layer of sound insulation
- Temperate gauge replaced
- Dashboard dismantled, dash panel replaced, wood trim repaired and re-lacquered, new radio unit fitted
- Dismantle, clean and check of n/ side suspension, and rebuild with correct setting
- O/ side suspension inspected and lubricated
- Door trim panels removed, readjustment of windows, window mechanism lubricated
- Faulty speaker wiring repaired, and door panels replaced
- Door locks repaired and adjusted
- Replacement throttle body with vacuum retard connection for ignition timing, and fuel settings reset
- Bonnet rubbers replaced
- Cam cover gasket replaced
- Power steering inspected and fluid topped up
June 2019 (Century Classics, Hungerford) totalling 130 hours labour / £11, 200. 00
- Correct 280 engine sourced, dismantled, checked and completely overhauled
- All components checked, beadblasted, and painted prior to fitting
- Engine bay cleaned and painted
- 280 injection pump checked and rebuilt
- Radiator and transmission cooler flushed
- Thermostatically controlled electric engine cooling fan fitted
- Programmable electronic ignition plus new HT leads fitted
- Injectors cleaned and tested
- Cold start device serviced
- Alternator and starter motor rewired
Plenty of other work including engine and gearbox mounts, shock absorbers, bushes, hoses, seat belts, rear wheel cylinders etc replaced in 2018, totalling over £8700. 00. Gearbox dismantled, overhauled, and refitted in 2012.
Mechanically the car wants for nothing, and is ready to be used and enjoyed by the next owner. As the pictures attest, cosmetically the car is in superb condition given its age, with only minor blemishes/ defects from its 57 years in use.
