SOLD, SIMILAR REQUIRED ! Black with Tapestry trim, Manufactured in 1928, this little RF Austin Seven was dispatched from the Longbridge factory and immediately exported to the City of Valencia, Spain where it became a working vehicle for a local Valencian Doctor. In the late 1940’s ownership had passed to a gentleman living in nearby Alicante, where it stayed until the early 1960s. With the severe economic austerity of post-civil war Spain under General Franco the Austin owner would have had no option but to keep the 7 in good service, Its simplicity and ingenuity of the design meant that it little car could be kept going even under the most restrictive of circumstances. By the mid 1970’s the Austin had developed a rear axle issue and was duly parked in a dry farm outbuilding where it stood for some 40 years. It was discovered in 2016 by a young Spanish enthusiast who understood the significance of the little Austin, Clearly the wonderfully dry climate and diligent ownership had saved this little 7. Some 89 years after it rolled off the production line at Longbridge, the Austin 7 returned to the UK and underwent a 1, 000 hour conservation/ preservation process by specialist Julian Parker Limited. This delightfully original 94 year old RF2 is one of just 30 known survivors and one of a handful of examples still retaining the original factory Rexine body, is one for restorers and collectors who seek out original detail, with careful and considered conservation this Austin 7 will remain for future generations to enjoy and to study.
