We are lucky enough to handle the sale of multiple Fastbacks every month, but this car is, by far and above, my favourite one so far. This 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback is on another level. The car has just this year (2022) been repainted in the iconic Highland Green metallic (Bullitt) colour by Spray Shack in Braintree and is in fantastic condition throughout.
The car has been in the UK for the past five years but was initially red. We think you will agree that the recent respray was a worthy upgrade! The bonnet is a factory turn signal bonnet, stock factory boot-lid and Deluxe trim - as per the original Bullitt car.
This Fastback not only looks the part throughout, it also packs a big punch. Under the bonnet is a 393 Stroker small block Ford V8 monster. Built up from a standard 351 Windsor V8, the 393 cubic inch engine transforms this car and sets it apart from the majority of Bullitt look-a-likes that come to market. There is an abundance of power and the car truly is “fast”.
The engine bay has been detailed and boasts an alloy radiator, chrome strut brace, all new ancillaries, hoses, reservoirs, battery etc.
The engine itself is mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox making the perfectly useable in 5th gear on long motorway journeys. Around town, the car has been set up to idle easily and could be used without any fear.
To tame the beast, the car has servo assisted disc brakes on all four corners. The car had new five spoke black Torque Thrust alloy wheels wrapped in new tyres. In addition, this Fastback benefits from front tubular control arms and Under rider traction bars at the rear, to improve handling.
Step inside, the black interior is in great condition. The car has black Procar bucket seats fitted as well as a discreet black roll bar behind the front seats. The car has had Sportcomp gauges fitted and also an original looking Mustang head unit that is actually a modern FM unit with modern speakers too. There are 3 point front inertia reel seatbelts and rear lap belts.
