This SWB 911 is a rare one indeed - a 1968 UK supplied 'L' (Luxe).
A one-year-only model, mainly aimed at the US market. Only a handful were produced in RHD for the UK market.
2. 0 litre, air cooled 6 cylinder with twin Weber carbs, making approximately 130 bhp.
The ‘L’ was equipped as the European ‘S’ models; superior suspension, vented disc brakes, 15 inch Fuchs alloys, a leather steering wheel plus ‘S’ trims and instruments.
Included in the large folder of paperwork is a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. The production date was February 1968, delivered by AFN Isleworth, official Porsche dealer in West London and registered on 20th March 1968.
Now featuring a 901 style 5 speed dog-leg manual ‘box instead of the Sportomatic (clutchless manual).
The original motor benefits from a complete rebuild some 11, 500 miles ago at a cost of over £10, 000.
A further £18, 000 was spent approximately 5, 000 miles ago on a bare metal repaint, reassembled with new seals etc.
Recent new carpets throughout.
We would describe it as a very strong Condition Grade 3 (out of 5); overall, this is a well sorted early 911, ready to use and enjoy immediately, or take on a journey to the next level.
