** SOLD** Pending collection.
First up, this car will need work before driving.
I was driving this car daily until April 2020, when the car started to get hot! It started using coolant (couldn't see an obvious leak anywhere), so I parked it up on my driveway (did not fully overheat/ cook it!) and still haven't properly looked at it!
I replaced the plastic bleed screw, which broke as soon as I looked at it, refilled and bled the system a couple of times - and got no further.
Doesn't appear to be water in the oil, but it looks like it's gone the other way and the coolant expansion tank looks like it could be a bit creamy (hard to see).
Prior to this the car was burning a lot of oil, so I have 'assumed' this might need a headgasket, at least. Could be a simpler fix, but I think it's unlikely.
Probably easier and cheaper to swap in a replacement engine - I believe a 330 engine is a popular/ easyish upgrade, or these can be raced with a 2 litre engine.
This would make a great track car, but I have realised I will never get round to this.
Before this, I was driving the car daily and covering a lot of miles.
I covered 13875 miles during my ownership - 7040 of those in 4 months, after it's last MOT! (It's now on 166, 475 miles).
It was a joy to drive and faultless (apart from burning oil).
It has a really nice, half leather, sport interior.
It has excellent Continental tyres on the front (fitted when I first purchased the car) and had new rears in 2018 which are budget (as I was not using the car much at that point), but are actually surprisingly grippy - though they seem to need the air topping up every couple of weeks since standing.
At last MOT in December 2019 it had rear brakes, hand brake & heater resistor replaced.
Everything was working when parked and also had new headlight bulbs.
Also had a new battery fitted, but that is now flat. You may be able to restore it with a good slow charger, or not!
I have not started it for probably 5/ 6 months but am confident it will start (for loading purposes) - it always has, even after standing.
E46's are quite fussy with power so you will need a strong jump pack/ battery to get this started.
I recently saw one of these, with no interior, engine or gearbox, sell at auction for over £850, so I am asking £800 for this car, but I will consider sensible offers.
