On offer is my very rare and highly sought after Special Edition Jaguar XKR 400 Convertible.
Just one previous owner, I have owned since 2013, with full service history and in excellent condition. The best of these are rising in value and a certain future classic
The XKR 400 was built in response to dealer orders and each dealer could order up to maximum of five cars. Available in both Coupe and Convertible form it doesn’t look too different on first glance from its previous versions but on more close inspection Jaguar have indeed made some performance and interior changes that make this Limited Edition model unique. The model was released only in three colours, Midnight, Slate and Platinum.
The car was tagged as one of the fastest ever production cars produced by Jaguar. It’s supercharged, 6-speed automatic gearbox and state-of-the art handling package shows that Jaguar are again at the forefront of technology. The car, amongst its many enhancements, has revised damper settings on the standard CATS suspension, uprated springs, re-tuned steering and has been lowered to give it that better stance.
The car itself sits on huge 20” R Performance “Montreal” BBS wheels which look quite menacing along with its bright red Brembo brake callipers and cross-drilled discs. Inside, the car has been given some nice touches in the shape of Chrome J-Gate surround, an all-leather R Performance steering wheel, Momo gear knob and drilled aluminium pedals. This, along with the Warm Charcoal leather / Alcantara interior trim and piano black veneer fascia gives the car a stylish but luxurious feel. With a 12 way electrical adjustment on the seating, the position will suit all.
The 4. 2 DIN bhp supercharged V8 engine will take the coupe version from 0-60mph in 5. 2 secs with a limited top speed of 155mph (convertible takes 5. 3 secs). With an “on-the-road” price of £59, 950 for the coupe and £66, 600 for the convertible Jaguar maintained its value-for money against its serious competitors.
The final figure for XKR 400 cars produced was 100 units, 60 Coupe and 40 Convertible, and the car was available in the UK only beginning 2003.
