The four-door Cortina 1600E, a higher-trim version, was introduced at the Paris Motor Show in October 1967, a year after the arrival of the Cortina Mark II. It combined the lowered suspension of the Cortina Lotus with the high-tune GT 1600 Kent engine and luxury trim featuring a burr walnut woodgrain-trimmed dashboard and door cappings, bucket seating, leather-clad aluminium sports steering wheel, and full instrumentation inside, while a black grille, tail panel, front fog lights, and plated Rostyle wheels on radial tyres featured outside.
Craner Classics are offering this 1968 Ford Cortina 1600E finished in Aubergine paintwork and complemented with black vinyl seats and door cards. The interior is also finished with the wooden dashboard and door cappings. Black carpets are fitted, and the car has a good headlining.
The car has been dry stored for the last 23 years with just 2 former keepers and showing 47, 000 miles on the odometer. Apparently, a new engine was fitted just 1, 500 miles before the car was put into storage all those years ago.
A video of the engine running is available upon request.
The car is being sold as a restoration project but once completed these cars can sell in excess of £25, 000-£30, 000.
Interested parties are urged to contact us ASAP to avoid any disappointment as the previous 1600E we have just sold created an enormous amount of interest and was sold extremely quickly causing considerable disappointment to a number of very interested customers.
