1946 MG TC
For many years the MG TC has been regarded as one of the archetypal British sports cars of its period – purposeful in appearance, with the classic rear ‘slab’ type fuel tank, long swept front wings and a brisk performance, the car was every young man’s dream in the early post war years. Demand from North America was to take precedence in those ‘export or die’ times and the waiting list for home market cars was very long indeed. The example offered here is one that didn’t venture overseas, however. The build date is shown on the MGCC T Register records as 5th July 1946.
Supplied by us some 9 years ago this car was the subject of a major restoration during the mid-1980s which was published as an extensive feature in ‘Practical Classics Magazine’ a copy of which is supplied. The car has the optional luggage rack and good weather equipment with well-fitting hood. Flashing indicators and high level brake light are fitted for safety in modern traffic.
Whilst in the current ownership the car has formed part of a small collection and has been fastidiously maintained with a documented list of all work undertaken.
The car was driven some 60 miles to us and during our test drive certainly ran very well feeling taut and responsive. Whilst not a ‘concours example’ this car is in very pleasing order and ready to enjoy and is very much a car for the enthusiastic driver.
Much paperwork is supplied, along with information on MG T series maintenance. There is also a Buff RF60 Log book dating back to 1959 and the correct instruction manual.
