Fiat 124 Spyder - Early A series - July 1969 UK Registered. RHD Conversion carried out by specialists 1995/ 1996
We bought this car as a running restoration project in May 2016.
The car came with some previous invoices that suggested a RHD conversion and a full restoration was completed between 08/ 1995 and 05/ 1996 by an independent specialist based in Matlock at a cost of around £8050 inc vat.
The invoices show that the engine was rebuilt and mechanical work completed at around 76, 842 miles, a new quality black hood and Black Alacantara / Leather interior was fitted, and invoices show that the car was later re sold by Grundy Mack in 1998 for £6500 to a dealer in Ireland.
We bought the car in 2016 in the UK and it had obviously been stood in a dry garage for some time, It was sent to a garage that I use regularly, who specialise in Porsche, Ferrari and all the finer things in life, and over a 7 week period they went through the car replaced some brake pipes, brake wheel cylinders, brake discs and pads, exhaust, wheel bearings, 4 tyres, and a general mechanical service including rear differential and gearbox oil change at a cost of £2238. 00
The car drove nicely but we learned that some of it’s previous body work repairs hadn’t stood the test of time, so it was then taken to another bodyshop and new front and rear arches, front wing repair sections, front and rear valences, inner and outer sills and a host of other parts costing £1980 euros which were sourced from Fiat 124 specialist Spider Point in Germany, and over a period of 2 yrs the car was stripped, the new panels carefully grafted in, localised repairs completed, prepped, repainted to a very high standard and transported back home to our garage,
It was recently removed it from its slumber, and these photos prove just how great the bodywork and hood are.
2019 to present times have seen a series of general life events overtaking our Fiat 124 Spyder project, and as a result the car has remained in the garage under its cover, virtually untouched since its return in September 2019.
It’s UK Registered on a “G” Suffix number plate.
It’s structurally very very sound, runs and drives, but needs detailing under the bonnet, the interior needs a bit of sorting, with a bit of time completing this lovely car.
It’s an early A series car 124A***** 0341 1400cc 90 BHP, and with a few weekends work could be transformed into a seriously good show car.
We have new door cards and some trim parts to complete this project
We have invested a further £11, 000 into this vehicle since buying it, and recognise that these stunning little cars will only appreciate in value in the years to come.
