For sale is my stunning Rover 214 SEi in Nightfire Red Metallic with the original Silverstone half leather interior.
Purchased by me in December 2020 from another Rover enthusiast and driven 150 miles home to Dorset which it covered perfectly. I bought the car to re-live my first car, and because I’m a big Rover fanatic.
History/ Ownership - The car was bought brand new from Holders Rover near Bristol by Mr and Mrs R, who owned it until 2015 when it was sold to the previous owner to me who has actually owned the car 3 times according to DVLA, he is the second and third owner due to a problem when registering the car in his name in 2015, he sold it to another Rover enthusiast in 2017 and then bought it back again in 2020, after which it was sold to me. I have a V5 document in the file for every owner including myself (including when the car was registered to the previous owner twice, a day apart!). The car comes with the original Rover book pack with the Salesman’s business card in place, and original Holders key ring and Rover radio security card, the owners manual (with Mr and Mrs R’s handwritten notes all over it!) and service book with a total of 16 service stamps (6 of which are the original supplying dealer) right through to 2011. There is then a Kwik Fit service book with a service in 2014 and 2015, and an invoice for a service I had carried out in 2021. I also have invoices for pretty much all the servicing over the years including a timing belt and water pump change in 2015 at 40, 430 miles and a head gasket change and oil and filter change in 2017 at 42, 728 miles by MG Rover Solutions. Every MOT certificate it’s had are included in a ring binder as well as a spreadsheet outlining its service history (made by the previous owner) and lots of invoices for servicing and repairs over the years. I also have an original Rover 200 sales brochure and advert from when I bought the car. The car has the original number plates and rear window sticker in place as well as a ‘Rover Service’ sticker to remind you of the next service (1998 ish from memory!).
Condition - I think the car is absolutely stunning, exterior wise the paintwork is an easy 95% with no real scratches or damage to speak of, just a few polishing marks from a lot of polishing it’s had with me! There is a small dent at the bottom of the drivers door in the grey section, a very small dent in the roof pillar and a small amount of corrosion on the near side rear wheel arch which had corrosion inhibitor painted on many years ago and has not spread in my ownership. The interior is very close to immaculate, the seats are in superb condition, the rear seats never look to have been sat in. There are a few minor marks to the alloy wheels, and some very very slight headlining sag above the rear seats, again not changed in my ownership. I’ve been underneath the car myself and it has never had any welding repairs anywhere (underside photo available).
Mechanical - the car starts first time, every time, the engine sounds as it should, it’s not used any oil in my time and it drives ever so well. Everything works as it should including the electric windows, electric sunroof and remote central locking.
Things I know aren’t 100% - just a couple of bits I know of; the clutch bite is high but it bites fine and has never bothered me, nor has it got any worse, I’m very gentle with it! There is a slight leak from the power steering pump, just enough to spray a little fluid around the engine bay, again never needed to top up and the power steering works fine. That’s it!

I’m in absolutely no rush to sell, the car lives in my garage (and has never seen rain since I’ve owned it, covered up and inside!) and I have space to keep it. The car is taxed and MOTd and used on occasions, you’re very welcome to come over and have a look. I have both sets of keys/ remotes and a current V5 in my name, at my home address. It isn’t the cheapest but in my opinion you will struggle to find a more loved example with so much history and originality about it, it’s why I bought it!
