A comprehensive Rover Mini MPI restoration to unique specification.
History File – Our cute little Mini original hails from the Netherlands and was imported to neighbouring Germany during the Pandemic by a marque specialist who claims that over half is brain is dedicated to the brand. It would culminate in a frame-off restoration and custom re-build between 2021-2022, with great attention to detail and quite possibly a unique specification. All add-on-parts were dismantled and refurbished and painted before installation. All existing rust was removed and the Mini was rebuilt using the original sheet metal. It’s a quirky little restoration and may not be to everyone’s taste but, it does have a certain amount of appeal, especially if you area Borussia Dortmund fan !
Exterior - The paintwork consists of a base yellow colour, combined with a metallic glaze, which has created a lovely play with colours which, in either shade or in sunlight, shows a rich golden-yellow effect with a glittering metallic effect. The base yellow tone is in the style of Porsche racing yellow with the majority of chrome parts now painted in contrasting black, as is the complete roof panel. Underneath the subframes were sand-blasted and repainted. The restoration was rounded off with MK1 tail lights for the perfect retro look. Finally, the Mini was extensively cavity preserved to provide the best possible protection against external influences.
Interior - The dashboard has been elaborately painted in yellow and matches the exterior perfectly. The inviting cabin is dominated by the two front, quality black leather sports seats with matching head restraints, which have been taken from a later Mini model. The rear seats have also been re-upholstered to match. A nice additional touch is the white faced instrument clock. The car is also radio prepared with a correct electrical wiring loom and loud speakers fitted under the back parcel shelf. Standard Rover equipment includes the drivers airbag and remote control immobiliser.
Engine & Gearbox – Power is a nice 63ps from the 1275cc engine with a standard Rover 4 speed gearbox. During reassembly, a large number of mechanical parts were replaced, including most of the braking system, shock absorbers, suspension elements, subframe rubbers, exhaust and Y-pipe from the engine block and much more. A full service was completed before the German registration took place in August and will of course be rechecked upon handover.
Wheels, Tyres & Brakes – The 4 corners are fitted with original alloy rim Minilite wheels that are covered with Falken Sincera 145/ 70R12 tyres. A couple of them are slightly scuffed and depicted above: front right and rear left. As alluded to above, during completion the car received a complete brake overhaul.
