1962 Austin Mini MKI van 'Shorty'
Designed and built in 1969 by Ted Laban who was a car designer for Jaguar/ Reliant. Ted was a car designer, mainly chassis design, who worked on chassis design for LTI (London Taxi International) including the wheel chair ramp, he also worked on designing a unique Bentley capable of 200 MPH for the Sultan of Brunei, of which only 6 vehicles were ever made. He also undertook work for FF developments, a company started by Harry Ferguson of tractor fame and concentrating on four-wheel drive systems.
The Mini was a 1962 Mini Van before Ted converted it as part of his HND apprenticeship programme with Jaguar. His concept was to create a which could be parked end-on into a regular street parking space. After being built the Mini has been in the Laban family for over 50 years!
sadly the original registration number '131 Fox' is no longer with the Mini, but if you google/ you tube the registration there is plenty of information regarding this special vehicle.
Its 24" shorter than original, offered with a very large history file including all the original technical information, design drawings, pencil sketches, small scale templates for machine cuttings etc.
Professionally built and correctly registered with DVLA, with all supporting correspondence from 1969.
Registered as a Historic Vehicle so benefits from Mot/ tax exempt.
