EXTERIOR
This Targa looks particularly alluring in Zenith blue; a truly complimentary colour to the elegant proportions of the last air cooled 911. The satin like appearance of the bodywork has been carefully prepared and dazzles under both natural and studio lights. Overall the exterior of the car shows in very clean condition with the metallic paintwork still showing a consistent shine with just a handful of minor stone chips to note.
The mirrors and wider rear arches are in equally good order; displaying no major marks or chips, whilst lights remain crack and moisture free.
INTERIOR
The interior of this Targa is reflective of the mileage as the Cashmere leather remains tight and clean with only the lightest signs of use to the driver’s seat to report. The carpets and mat set are in good order whilst door cards, dash fit and operation are as you would expect for a car that has been pampered from day one. An upgraded Porsche Classic Nav system with Bluetooth, USB and Aux brings this 993 into the 21st century.
The cabin provides Cabriolet-like airiness and the chance to enjoy the sun whilst much less exposed at speed than in a conventional drop top. The roof mechanism works as it should.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The 3. 6 litre is a perfectly elastic powertrain at both ends of the rev range and tractability is at the core of what makes the 993 so user-friendly. Equipped with the updated VarioRam system there is an appreciable increase in mid range torque and boosts power from 272bhp to 285bhp. Benefitting from the updated engine this 993 Targa still feels quick, even by model standards, managing 60 mph in just 6. 4 seconds and going onto a top speed of 168mph.
The engine bay presents dry and clean and in perfect mechanical order having had a regular and comprehensive servicing through its life time. Renowned specialists Autofarm replaced the clutch in 2020 and with the car having only covered a mere 5k miles since the drivetrain is tight and assured.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Fitted at each corner the model specific split rims show in very good condition, free from any signs of corrosion or curbing. All four N rated Michelin Pilot Sport2 tyres were replaced in 2021.
Brakes perform strongly and present with plenty of disc / pad life remaining.
HISTORY FILE
This C16 RHD was supplied by AFN Reading ( Porsche Centre Reading) in June 1997.
The original service book logs a total of 16 entries with each and every invoice accounted for in the history file. Various 111 point checks, alongside routine servicing with the main agent over the years, reveal that the car has always been maintained to a very high standard. Latterly Cameron specialist cars and Autofarm have tended to various works, inclusive of new clutch and anti roll bar links, while new tyres all round and a PCCM where installed at OPC Silverstone in 2021.
