Finished in a striking coat of classic Guards Red, the sleek and elegant proportions of this 964 retain a consistent deep shine belying the cars age and mileage. The bodywork is in fantastic condition with exceptional panel gaps and shut lines throughout; a sign of careful ownership and sympathetic use over the last 33 years.
Further details around the car match the low mileage and superb condition with the rubber seals still supple and the lights completely free from any cracks or fogging.
INTERIOR
This car was specified with period piped Linen Leatherette seats which perfectly matches the Guards red coachwork. Condition of the cabin mirrors the cars low mileage; with the deeply bolstered sports seats free from any creasing or wear.
The correct black steering wheel and original Blaupunkt Toronto head unit complete the 80’s feel whilst the black dash is clean and free from cracks or distortion.
The layout is simple but familiar; providing just the necessary information to ensure nothing detracts from the 964’s driving experience.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
You can sense the provenance of Porsche’s air-cooled Flat-6 on start-up as the engine erupts into life with a wonderful and familiar 911 sound before settling to a smooth and consistent idle. The engine produces 247bhp, not a substantial amount by modern standards, but paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox the power to weight ratio ensures strong performance.
On the move if feels nimble and responsive, with the air-cooled 3. 6L providing some sonorous encouragement up through the gears.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The gold crested D90 16 inch wheels provide a superb ride and sit in fine fettle, free from any kerb marks or blemishes. The tyres are a matching set of Avon ZZ3 with excellent depth remaining across all four corners.
The black Porsche branded callipers are just visible through the wheels, as are the discs which is all in good working order, free from and lipping or corrosion.
HISTORY FILE
This exceptional 964 Carrera 2 was first registered by Dick Lovett Porsche on 06/ 10/ 1989 and has always been thoroughly looked after as a collector grade example with minimal use and careful storage. In total there are 9 service stamps in the original service book alongside additional supplementary invoices detailing work carried out over the years.
Sold in 1994 by Lancaster to a long term owner of 16 years the car has always enjoyed further long keeper cycles of at least 5 years (with the exception of 1) and as such has only had 5 owners in total.
Recent work include replacement of the rocker covers, a new alternator and a reconditioned rev counter in September of 2022 alongside a full engine strip down, check and reseal in 2023 to ensure no leaks and that the engine is in perfect health.
Present with the car is the full original owners pack, leather Porsche wallet and all original literature that was provided with the car from new.
The classic red / linen was the colour combo of the era and this time warp example looks every bit the nostalgic 80’s pin-up poster model.
