The Yamaha YM1 was the flagship of the marque’s sports bikes in the 1960’s, with its 305cc two-cylinder air-cooled engine being the largest two-stroke of its kind in the world. It was the first Yamaha twin to feature Autolube automatic lubrication driven by a gearbox pump.
This machine had a top speed of 103 mph driven through its 5-speed gearbox, and weighed 163 kg. The bike cost approximately £258 when new in 1965 which was expensive at the time
Only having been made for a short period during the 1960’s, the bike is now rare and collectable
This example is in superb, restored condition, having been subject to an extensive nut and bolt restoration in 2017 by a well known Yamaha collector and restorer, at a cost exceeding £10, 000
It has formed part of a collection since then, and remains un-ridden
The history file includes the current and past V5C’s
