This beautifully presented MGB GT was built on the 11-12th October 1966 and is a RHD Home market example that was registered new on the 3rd November 1966 in London. LYT 240D left the factory in Tartan Red with Black upholstery, chrome wire wheels, heater, miles per hour speedo and chrome wire wheels. Although registered new in London, the MGB GT spent its early life in Cornwall with records confirming it was in the South West from the 1970’s through to the late 1990’s.
The MGB comes with three folders of history and a photographic record of a comprehensive restoration between 1991 and 1994. The body was stripped down and new sills, front wings. rear wings, floor pans, door skins, rear panel, new rear spring hangers and new boot floor were fitted. A huge file of invoices from a Cornwall based MG specialist, T. P Kelly are on file detailing much of the work.
After the bodywork the MG was built up with new chrome, new rubbers and seals, a mechanical program of work included an engine rebuild, new starter motor, rebuild suspension and brakes, new wiring, hoses, heater, and various other ancillaries. Since completion of the 1990's rebuild the car has covered 22, 000 miles and has been superbly maintained since to keep the car looking fresh from restoration. With the rebuild commencing 30 years ago, over more recent years the car has been fully re-painted, the engine bay beautifully detailed, new chrome wire wheels and tyres fitted, an unleaded cylinder head conversion carried out, renewed brightwork and the interior has been beautifully kept. Mechanically the MG has been superbly maintained and arrives with us on the button.
LYT 240D is in beautiful condition with gleaming Tartan Red paintwork, stunning brightwork, show quality engine bay, a structurally exceptional underside and lovely upholstery. On the road the GT is fantastic fun with a strong fit, healthy engine holding excellent oil pressure, a lovely smooth gearbox with working overdrive and handling and braking first class. This is a stunning, on the button car that's ready to use and enjoy.
