The Triumph Herald was launched in 1959 first with 948cc engine, then 1147cc and finally 1296cc power. The early cars were basic but in 1961 the “1200” was launched with wooden dashboard, improved seating and various styling upgrades, then in 1967 the 13/ 60 arrived with revised front end styling and improved performance from its 1296cc 6abhp engine.
This car is a Triumph Herald 13/ 60 saloon in Royal Blue. Registered 25th January 1971, it is one of the last cars produced and was supplied new by “Lawrences” of Clapham (original invoice is with the car) to Miss Olive small who kept it until 1992. The original service book has 12 services recorded and shows the mileage increasing gradually to 23, 000 in 1978, then old MOT’s show it at just 33k miles in 1991. In 1992 it was sold to its second owner and placed into dry storage for the next 30 years with very occasional use. The current mileage is just 33, 800.
We have just carried out various re-commissioning jobs and 100 or so test miles; it’s running and driving beautifully, as you would expect for a 33k mile car and as you can see from the pictures, it presents in superb and very original condition.
Clearly this Herald is something of a find; we doubt there are too many left to discover with this condition with just 33, 000 miles from new and two owners.
Ready to use.
