Trade sale: a genuine special edition Fulvia for improvement.
History of this car
The Monte Carlo is a limited edition, 970kg road going replica of the 1972 Montecarlo Rally works car. Beyond the distinctive livery, the Montecarlo has unique weight saving features such as closed and frameless quarter lights, blanked off door warning lights, HF style flared arches, HF bucket seats, HF Cromodora type wheels, HF number plate lights and so on.
De-bumpered with distinctive rectangular front fog lights these cars look the business and with only 4440 made, are today rather rare.
According to the Fiat Archivio Storica certificate of origin that accompanies the car, this is an original matching numbers Monte Carlo manufactured in February 1975.
A low owner, previously restored car, it was imported into the UK from Italy in 2014. Our car has had the one UK owner and is fitted with low profile tyres and some upgrades including electric fuel pump, LED lights and sound deadening.
Body work
The body and paint are two tone black over red as per the livery of the rally cars.
Whilst our car is structurally good and has benefitted from a windows out repaint around 20 years ago, today there are some areas of corrosion to the body and it would benefit from having these attended to and a partial repaint carried out.
The worst culprits are the front of the bonnet and rear slam panel, the usual areas that these Fulvias are susceptible to corrode, and there are areas of localised paint reaction and blisters elsewhere.
Panel fitment is tight all round and the glass is good as are the Cromodora style wheels.
Mechanicals
This is a strength of the car as it drives spot-on, with much recent work carried out to the suspension and braking system. The car starts readily having been fitted with an electric fuel pump, and it has just had new air and oil filters plus fresh engine oil.
Under bonnet presentation is nicely detailed and the car has a new MOT expiring February 2024.
Interior
The HF seats have been retrimmed and the dashboard has been re-lacquered in the past. Recently a new headlining has been fitted, new door cards and carpets made up by Upton & Son, together with sound proofing and the addition of a voltmeter.
A period leather Luisi leather sports steering wheel is fitted which perfects the rally car feel this Fulvia communicates.
Boot
In clean condition with original rubber matting. A spare wheel is present as is a jack and toolkit.
