Craner classics is offering a very rare 1964 Humber Sceptre series 1 in a beautiful green colour.

This Humber has been beautifully restored to a very high standard with having had a respray to a very high standard indeed and excellent chrome all-round the interior is in fabulous condition including roof lining and dashboard.

Very rarely seen today and especially in this condition.

When the Humber came out in the 1960’s it turned out to be a very popular family sports car with its eye catching design.

This one Craner is offering here is one of the best we seen in a long time.

And as they rarely come up for sale in this exceptional condition this Humber really does drive with no fault and will not disappoint.

and comes with overdrive as standard.

This is a lovely car presented in excellent running order and we would therefore urge interested parties to contact us ASAP to avoid any disappointment.

The Humber Sceptre MK I, introduced in 1963, was a luxury car based on the Hillman Super Minx. It featured a unique roof, glass and upper/ rear bodywork not shared with the Super Minx or the related Singer Vogue.[clarification needed] The Sceptre was originally intended as a four-door replacement for the Sunbeam Rapier, but was launched as a Humber, while the Rapier continued in production with little modification until 1967. (I had a 1966 registered Rapier !) This resulted in the Sceptre’s more sporty character compared to traditional Humber’s. The Sceptre was positioned at the top of the mid-range Rootes Group cars, above the Hillman Super Minx and Singer Vogue. It featured similar twin headlight styling to the Vogue and a more powerful 80 bhp (60 kW; 81 PS) version of the 1, 592 cc Minx engine. The high level of equipment included disc front brakes, overdrive, screen washers, reversing lamp, rev counter and a full range of instruments. Automatic transmission was made available later. A MK IA was introduced in 1964. Whilst the Super Minx and Vogue received revised six light styling in 1964, the Sceptre body continued unchanged until 1965 when it was replaced by the MK II. [But, did not the Sceptre body remain unchanged while the 1725cc engine replaced the 1592cc engine, revised suspension geometry and 13in wheels? Though not sure about the wheels !).

Production of the MK I and IA models totalled 17, 011 units.’’
