As you can see from the pictures this really is a good looking car, 50’s styled fin-tailed rear wings with striking two tone paint, just wants buying and enjoying, pack up your picnic and head off for the summer shows.
The “Pennant” is the top of the range Standard “10” with more stylish front and rear wings and a slightly higher output engine, two tone paintwork and additional gauges on the dash. First registered in July 1958 this great example was cherished for many years by a Standard / Triumph engineer who completed an extensive restoration and it’s all documented in pages and pages of notes, he did a great job, its as clean and solid underneath as it is on top. Comes with loads of paper work and original instruction and parts manuals, we have the logbook showing 4 keepers.
An absolutely pleasure to drive, a smile every mile as you wave back at admirers, the original two tone red interior complements the exterior, as you slide behind the wheel the five, chrome rimmed, dials on the dash greet you and let you know your driving something a bit classy. Everything is working correctly, all the lights, indicators, wipers, washers, horn, it has a great little heater and the additional front fog lamp and rear reverse light are working.
The 948cc engine runs silently on tick over, no breathing form the oil filler when running (see video) and it pulls well through all the gears. Brakes work well with a good handbrake. Steering is steady at speed with no wobble or vibrations, a very enjoyable drive and it will keep pace with modern traffic. The car sits on a matching set of very good tyres with a spare in the boot. Tax and MOT exempt with very low cost classic car insurance and running costs, mechanical parts are widely available online.
The bodywork is in very good order, the underside is completely solid, see the pictures, you could eat your dinner off the floor pans they are so clean. Chrome work is very good on the bumpers and hub caps, some very minor pitting on the handles, very rare front and rear “Pennant” badges in place.
Its not a new car, close inspection will find some minor paint blemishes, there are touch up paints in the boot for both the red and cream, but you won’t be in a rush to use them, it just wants enjoying this season. The carpets could do to be replaced and can be bought online for under £200, this would be an easy and huge improvement. As with most cars of this age it has not been used over the winter month’s so we’d recommend a check over before the start pf the season.
This car is a 50’s gem, the styling is spot on for the period, the colours are right, it just wants enjoying. More fun than an ISA and you still have the car to sell if you want to cash in, enjoy life a little, your investment banker will be living it up on your hard earned savings right now, YOU should be enjoying it.
Great styling, great runner, solid as a rock and cheap as chips to run about, what’s not to like ?
