We are delighted to present for sale this 1966 Land Rover® Series 2a, finished in desirable Light Pastel Green colour scheme with new Sand canvas and Limestone Wheels.
Externally, this has all the period features one would hope to see – wing top mounted mirrors, vintage numberplates, bonnet mounted spare, razor edge bonnet, rear grab handles, rear mud flaps and a towbar and electrics to allow towing. A recent bumper and a set of road biased tyres complete the look – these are larger than standard for a strong stance and to increase the gearing (more on this later). In our opinion, we think this is a really handsome Series 2a, and we hope you agree!
On the inside, there are three front standard seats, with deluxe matting to the footwells. A heater with front demist is fitted, which is a helpful addition, which would’ve been an option at the time – as would the flyscreens inside to keep bugs away when the vents are open. The Individual wiper motors are still fitted too, which is nice to see. The rear is unfitted with the exception of a load mat to the floor area, but this could house bench seats for £595 to bring seating to seven occupants including the driver.
Out on the road, this Series 2a drives just as it should – the larger tyres give a more relaxed cruise by extending the gearing ratios, whilst the weber carburettor gives superior power over standard. Thanks to the cross climate tyres, a better ride than standard is a welcome addition too.
In summary, if you are looking for a well sorted Series 2a in a desirable colour scheme which does not attract the hassle of road tax and MOT, then this could be for you – classic insurance should also mean that long-term running costs prove to be manageable too.
