1987 Ford Escort Bantam. RHD import from South Africa with all tax and duty paid and NOVA declaration done. We will complete all the paperwork for the new owner to UK register it but it will need MOTd first. This little pickup is completely solid and doesnt appear to have ever been welded. It starts runs and drives but could do with a bhit tidying up.
Body - Genuine Ford built Bantam pickup or bakkie as they are known in South Africa. Very solid little truck from front to back. Looks like all original panels and hasnt been welded as far as I can see. Paintwork is Ok and its useable but if you wanted it nice then you would have to paint it. Front bumper is a bit bruised. Small marks on most panels but no major dings or damage. Middle section of rear cab window is missing. Its flat glass so you can get a bit cut easily or use perspex.
Mechanics - 1600 CVH engine which fires up no problem. Engine sounds quiet. We have no history so dont know when it was last serviced or the timing belt changed. Clutch and brakes feel fine on a short test drive. Due to the age of the vehicle will need a good checkover before being used .
Interior - Original bench seat. Cloth part will clean up ok. Needs a repair on vinyl on top of the seat. good dashboard. XR3 instrument cluster fitted and working.
Wheels - 14" Lattice type wheels similar to Sapphire Cosworth wheels but an inch smaller. No major damage but will need a refurb.
Really solid little pickup which would make either a great useable one or good basis for an easy project. Please feel free to come and see the car. We have a ramp so you can look underneath. Delivery can be arranged if required. Please ask for a quote.
