Lotus Elan Plus 2 LHD
Manufactured April 1971, first registered in the USA in 1972. It was imported to Finland in the 90s as a project from the USA, and the project was left unfinished by the importers at that time.
The current owner has owned the vehicle for around 12-13 years, during this time he has totally gone through the car and restored it to its current condition.
The body was removed from its frame, the frame was then sandblasted, and painted black with epoxy paint. All suspension and brake parts were renewed, including the following:
• Joints.
• Pads.
• Steering rack.
• Front and rear brake discs/ pads.
• Front brake callipers were renewed, rear clippers were serviced.
• Wheel bearings, etc.
• Adjustable rear support arms.
• New adjustable Spax shock absorbers to front and rear.
Engine is a Ford 1. 8 Zetec Twin Cam with Webco 45mm throttle-bodies, custom exhaust, and injection engine control unit.
Gearbox is its original Ford Lotus 4-speed.
Rear axle/ diff is also its original one. It has been serviced and the bearings have been renewed, also the drive shafts have been renewed.
The body has been gone through and is very good, painted in bright orange with taped black stripes. Original colour was white.
All electrics have been completely renewed, also renewed is the following.
• Windshield.
• Dashboard.
• Headliner.
• Carpets.
• Door trims.
• Rear seats and panels, and rear container trim.
The seats are from an MGB GT, they are in good condition.
New Minilite rims and Hankook tires, etc., etc. The number of renewed parts is really staggering.
There is still some little tinkering with the gauges, the tachometer doesn't work, and the speedometer stopped working a couple of summers ago. It's mechanical, probably reasonably repairable.
The vehicle is now registered in Finland and fully road worthy, it has a current MOT/ TUV.
