1960 Austin Healey 3000 MKI - Exceptional Value SOLD
The Austin Healey arrived into the UK in 1989 and was subject of various restoration work and a RHD conversion on its arrival. Invoices are on file for various work during the early 1990's and by 1993 having had almost four years of restoration work, the Healey was on the road and UK registered. The car stayed with its first UK owner for 14 years, selling to one of our long term customers in Bolton, Lancashire 20 years ago in 2003. Whilst it was a strong, usable example, its new owner immediately commissioned a program of work to take the Healey to a superb standard. A huge file of invoices accompanies the car detailing thousands of pounds worth of expenditure. The Healey was stripped down, wings, doors, bonnet and boot panels removed and treated to bodywork and a full re-paint that was carried out a very high standard in the cars original colours. Further work included various re-chroming, new chrome wire wheels and tyres, various rubbers, gaskets, trims, hinges, full re-trim in Dark Blue leather, new weather equipment and the car has been subject of thousands of pounds worth of mechanical work to include a brake overhaul, carburettor rebuild and poly bushed suspension.
WVS 914 had just two owners in 34 years and covered almost 8000 miles on UK roads before coming to us for the first time in 2020 when we sold it very quickly to a long term customer. Since then the Healey has covered 600 faultless miles over summer months but now the owner is finding It difficult to get in and out. It has been MOT tested each year and comes back to us just as it left, in lovely condition throughout. A huge amount of expense went into the car by its Lancashire long term owner to ensure he was proud at various shows and events such as Tatton Park. All these years on since the major work, the Healey still looks stunning with a beautiful Ice Blue over Cream paint finish, the body panels are excellent, and the interior superbly finished. Chrome work gleams and the car stands incredibly well. The underside of the car is structurally excellent and the engine bay is clean, tidy and well presented. Weather gear is all excellent and the Healey is a car ready to drive and enjoy. The 3000 engine sounds beautiful, pulls superbly and offers excellent oil pressure. The four speed gearbox is a delight to use, overdrives comes in smooth and the 3000 MKI handles incredibly well. It's a lovely car to drive, offers excellent value and comes with a fantastic comprehensive history file.
