EXTERIOR
Presented in handsome Machine Grey metallic (exclusive to the RF model), this MX-5 RF Launch Edition looks magnificent from every angle, boasting a deep lustful shine and a striking metallic flake. On close inspection there are a handful of small stone chips towards the front of the car, completely in line with the age and mileage. The Launch Edition spec includes stunning 17-inch black BBS alloy wheels and a two-tone roof. This one is further equipped with the optional Mazda Sport front lip, giving it a lower, more aggressive stance than standard. This example really does stand out from the crowd with its tasteful specification and blistering performance.
INTERIOR
The interior space of the Launch Edition has a premium feel, with the Alcantara Recaro seats, dashboard and door cards with red stitching and piping. Between the two seats you will find the numbered plaque 213/ 500. The interior condition is superb throughout with no worn bolsters or damaged trim. The carpets are protected in the footwells by the original LE over-mats. Other commonly worn items such as the steering wheel and gear knob remain in fine fettle, as does the boot area, which is fitted with the optional Mazda boot tray for protection. An IL Motorsport phone holder (designed specifically for the ND MX-5) has also been fitted for convenience.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Equipped with the 2-litre Skyactiv engine, this example was sent directly to BBR when new and fitted with the BBR Super 200 kit (the most powerful naturally aspirated kit at the time). This consists of: BBR cold air intake, BBR stainless steel 4 into 1 exhaust manifold, BBR high-performance cams, BBR StarChip ECU remap and ProECU, BBR high performance springs and geometry. As well as the Super 200 kit, the first owner specified the GT exhaust system, pushing the figures to a mightily impressive 214hp, 183 lb-ft, and a 0-60mph time of just 5. 6 seconds. The invoice for this work totals to nearly £5, 000.
WHEELS, TYRES AND BRAKES
The Launch Edition comes with the premium 17-inch BBS alloys which look fantastic and fill arches perfectly. The wheels are wrapped in matching Falken tyres with between 5-6mm of tread remaining. The brakes have been checked and operate without fault, with 5mm remaining on the front pads.
HISTORY FILE
First registered in 2017, the beautiful MX-5 RF Launch Edition has now driven just 31k miles in the hands of 3 registered keepers. This example has clearly been cherished from new, having only been serviced with the supplying Mazda dealer Motorlux in Newbury. Within the history file you will find all invoices for servicing and parts, MOT certificates, a Launch Edition sales brochure, Mazda price list, the registration document and a spare key.
