Rover 3500 P6 Mark 1 automatic.
Old English white with black leather trims with red piping.
Overall in superb condition. To the best of my knowledge this is the oldest Mk1 3500 on the road as it was registered in May 1969.
Structure:- solid underneath , the bodyshell is sound and all the doors open and shut with a gentle click. All the panels are metal and straight including the all important aluminium bonnet and bootlid.
Cosmetics:- The paint is beautifully smooth however there are a number of small imperfections around the filler flap and very small bubbles on the n/ s/ f wing, sill covers and o/ s/ r wing. Correct touch up stick provided. The chrome is all good apart from the n/ s/ f over-rider – a replacement comes with the car.
Mechanics:- Over the last two years more than £4, 400 has been spent by the previous owner on the car including new carburettors (the later SU HIF44’s) new rear brake callipers, copper brake pipes, , stainless steel exhaust and all the serviceable items. In my ownership I have just replaced the starter motor and starter relay, front brake pads and discs, front shock absorbers (Spax adjustables) and rear springs.
History:- The car has an MoT until June 2024 and comes with most of the old MoT’s back to 1982. There is a large and detailed file of receipts , some going back to the 80’s when the car was looked after by Colliver Fisher in Northwood and comes with the original bookpack.
There is a current V5 in my name and some old V5’s of previous owners. Current mileage is 83116 but may go up slightly as I do use it regularly.
It is very reliable and has never let me down or given cause for concern even on long 300 mile trips. ALL the electrics work although the electric tacho is a bit optimistic and the clock runs fast about ¼ of an hour per day. It starts first time with the manual choke and settles into a smooth idle at 500 rpm when warm.
I am in no great rush to sell it but currently have no garage to keep it in as I have just sold my business premises and leaving it outside even with the fitted car cover that comes with it will mean it may suffer come the winter. I am open to sensible offers
