Description
Rare fuel injected Flavia 2000, with desirable power steering option.
Imported by the last owner from southern Europe so wonderfully rust free and original.
I have just completed an engine rebuild. Internally the engine showed little wear, reflecting the low kilometres. Valves were recut into the seats to cure low compression and all the main and big end bearings replaced. Reassembled following deep clean with new gaskets and seals and hoses. Now nicely run in and running perfectly.
Everything else working perfectly. Brakes are amazingly strong. Suspension quiet with good ride and precise steering and handling.
Gearbox has excellent synchromesh but does whine in 3rd and 4th gears. This is the only fault the car has and doesn’t effect drive except for the background noise.
Paintwork is lovely.
Interior similarly is in excellent condition. Original vinyl seats are perfect and the carpets new. Everything works.
I am valuing the car based on what it cost me plus the money I spent on it since. The fuel injected Flavia 2000 is a rare car. Only 750 were made with the wonderful Kugelfischer injection before the Flavia name was dropped and the HF arrived. It has the earlier detailing which I prefer but with the performance and surprising economy of the later HF.
The power steering is a real highlight. Really full of feel and so precise.
I always avoid cars with poor bodywork. I can fix anything mechanical but hate doing body work. I have seen so many rusty or poorly restored Flavias over the years so this one really stood out.
Flavias are so underrated. They are much better made than a 105 Alfa with a layer of refinement the Alfas don’t have. Being Italian they are also fun, in the way a contemporary Mercedes just isn’t.
