I have decided, with some reluctance to sell this car which I have owned for 14 years. It's a 2005 model SL500 automatic with 5L V8 engine. 2005 is a perfect year because the car has the 7 speed auto box (previously 6 speed) and in 2006 road tax was increased. The mileage is genuine and is 54700. It has a full service history initially with Mercedes and in more recent years a better independent Mercedes specialist, Star Motors. I have always insisted on using Mobil 1 oil. See photos of the service records.
The car was MOT'd last week and passed without advisories. The exhaust analysis showed zero hydrocarbons in the exhaust which means that the engine is in great shape.
I have covered 30k miles in UK and Europe and it has never let me down. On long runs I get 32mpg of 95 octane.
The wheels are AMG and are in fair condition, and the tyres are all Goodyear Eagle F1's which have done only a few thousand miles.
The boot lid brake light works fine but it is cracked, but doesnt leak. However, there's a new one included in the sale, bought but never fitted. (photo)
This model has a reputation for allowing water into the boot but mine has never had that problem. The roof mechanism works perfectly. The car starts, drives and stops perfectly. A recent new vacuum pump means that the central locking ++ works fine.
The paintwork is good but has a couple of flaws... there is a scratch on the boot lid, a small area on the front bumper has been touched in, and there is minor bubbling in three small (2cm x 2cm) areas on the roof.(photo) This has been ongoing for 10 years. The luxury touches of heated seats, AC etc are standard for the car and I wont list them, but needless to say, this is a great, high quality car, very expensive in its day (about £80k I think)
This is a great honest car which has been enjoyed and well-looked after and represents great value for money.
