Genuine reason for sale, is a great car but will be moving overseas for a while. Have been chipping away at it since I've owned it... Was a bad one, now is a good one, shell is solid, along with all running gear... with a couple of unfinished bits that would make it a really good one, most of which I have. Spent a fair few quid on it this summer.
1990 Mk2 Golf Gti 5 door tornado red 1. 8 8v, big bumper model.
Clocks showing 88*** miles, will rise as used daily.
Was probs clocked in 2001 when it had a top end rebuild (have paperwork) when clocks "showed 10k". Have the following 22 years of history and receipts, over the last 78k miles, much of it from the last 6 years of my ownership. Should buy on condition rather than milage anyway with these.
Serviced every summer.

It starts, runs, drives and stops all very well. Gets lots of attention and waves out on the road.
Other than the porsche d90 wheels (have the original bbs ras also) and the sound system, it's completely standard - suspension, exhaust, air filter etc etc.
Have owned for the past 6 years and the following has been done/ acquired in my ownership:
- Both outer sills, wheel arches, front floor pans, jacking points and battery tray professionally welded (2 grands worth) so shell is completely solid.
- New rear axle
- New starter motor
- New battery
- New distributer
- New HT leads
- New exhaust
- New brake lines, discs and pads all round
- New calipers
- New shock absorbers
- New bushes in gear shifter
- New headlining
- New sunroof seal
- New clutch cable
- New wiper motor
- New wipers
- New scuttle tray from SWG motorsport (£110)
- Full alpine sound system with top of the range head unit, speakers and active sub (£400)
- Refurbished porsche d90 wheels, all in good nick, one has very slight curbing mark. Tyres fairly worn but also have full set of original bbs ras that have been stripped and ready for powder coating, along with 4 nearly new toyo proxies to go on.
- Uncut parcel shelf
- Clouded rear lights from 16v
- Weighted shift rod from mk3 golf
- Stormforce breathable car cover (£150)
That's just off the top of my head so probably missed stuff.
Bad bits
- Classic bolster wear, have a patch of original material and seat foam to repair, may get round to it if find time
- Paint polishes up well but some marks and small bubbles in places, bonnet is the worst up close. Overall looks good from 10ft. Is 33 years old so to be expected.
- Rear valance on boot is a bit crusty, £25 on ebay
- Front bumper needs raising but one of the bolts wont budge, again may fix if can find the time
- Gear gator has a rip in it, gear knop top plastic is cracked
- Bottom of drivers door a bit crusty
- Power steering belt squeals slightly on full lock
None of these affect the driving of the car.
