C. 1985 GARELLI MINI 49cc PRIX CHILD’S MOTORCYCLE
A marque made famous by the successes of its racing two-strokes in the 1920s, Garelli resumed post-war production with the Mosquito clip-on power unit and before long was producing proper motorcycles once again. In the 1970s a number of ‘Sixteener Specials’ were offered to cater for the teenage motorcyclist in the UK, one of the most popular being the Rekord. This Garelli Mini Prix child’s motorcycle is a convincing replica of a 1980s Grand Prix racing motorcycle. Powered by a single-cylinder two-stroke engine, it features clip-on handlebars, alloy wheels, race-style fairing and mono-shock rear suspension. Purchased new by the last owner and not used since, it represents an ideal Christmas present for the budding Rossi.
