A beautiful and well cared for Sunbeam Model 9. A lovely Marston Sunbeam that was in the hands of its previous owner for 27 years. Always well maintained and participated in many club runs and outings, the Sunbeam was only sold due to the owners advancing years.
Dating certificate from VMCC states correct frame and engine numbers and year of production as 1928. It is a very early saddle tank Model 9 as they were only introduced in 1929.
The engine has very good compression. In 2019 a new bronzecage roller was fitted, conrod and crankpin re-fitted and trued and everything shimmed up correctly in the crankcase. At the same time, the cylinder was re-sleeved to standard bore and a new piston and piston rings fitted. Chris Odling, build and re-profiled the cam followers. Earlier work includes a complete carburettor rebuild and new brake shoes and springs fitted.
All gears select accurately up and down. There is a “tight” feel to the entire motorcycle.
Paint and chrome in very good condition, the only fault is a few spots of very light pitting on the right hand side silencer, otherwise all tinware and paint in very good order.
