Description
The bike was manufactured in 1927 and first registered in the UK in 1928, in the near 100 years since it has had just 4 previous owners.
The bike is featured in freshly restored condition on page 104 of 'The Sunbeam Motorcycle' written by Robert Cordon Champ (copy included in sale). The bike is an 'all correct matching numbers' machine. The frame number is stamped on the head stock, the engine number on the right hand crank case and the gearbox number on the gearbox outer casing. All numbers have been confirmed as correct by the Marston Sunbeam Club and Register and a certificate to confirm this is on file.
The bike was restored by the late Robert Morris a well respected enthusiast and leading figure in the Marston Sunbeam Club and has been kept in his family since his passing. In my ownership the bike has been recommissioned with new tyres and runs perfectly, other than a light patina of use it remains in as restored condition and correct in all aspects.
Key features are ;
ML Square Magneto
AMAC TT carburetor
Original 21 inch Dunlop rims
Both Terry and Brooks saddles
Original leather tool boxes on rear frame
Current UK V5C in my name
The Marston Sunbeam Register has just 26 Model 9 machines from 1927 on its register, making this all numbers matching machine very rare indeed. Together with the undoubted skill and knowledge of the restorer, this must be one of the finest examples available today.
The current enthusiasm for pre-war flat-tanker motorcycles remains strong and this all correct 1927 Sunbeam is a prime example.
