Just arrived in stock with us now is this lovely 1978 Vauxhall Cavalier 1. 6 GL 4DR finished in gleaming White with a Red Velour interior. This great looking family saloon also benefits from the correct Rostyle wheels with chrome Bessels.
The car has obviously been cherished by its 3 owners from new, the first Mr Donald Tyler from Yeovil, kept the car until 1995 when it changed hands to its second owner, Mr Dennis Curtis from Seaton in Devon, who loved and cherished it until 2023, some 28 years! BYD684S was delivered on the 4th May 1978 by Wincanton Garages, Addlewell Lane, Yeovil, Somerset and registered to Mr Tyler on the 8th May 1978.
The gleaming White paintwork presents very well indeed with a good deep shine and depth. The chrome work equally presents very well with very few minor imperfections which do not detract from the appearance of the car at all.
Upon opening the door you are greeted by the lovely Red Velour interior, there is slight bobbling to the drivers seat bolster, quite a common problem on this type of material unfortunately, but do not let this out you off as the interior looks fantastic. All the switch gear works and the plastics and roof lining are in great condition also. The car still retains its original radio.
Under the bonnet is also very clean and presentable and upon turning the key from cold the 4 cylinder ohc engine bursts in to life with very little choke and is soon ready to idle with no choke at all. On the road the car performs as it should and is a pleasure to drive with good precise steering and brakes.
In the history file we have a good number of invoices for early repairs and servicing along with most MOT certificates from 1988 through to 2008. We also have a number of old tax discs also. Looking through the file it is clear to see that this car has attended many classic and county shows over the years with many medals and plaques present.
All in all a lovely useable classic that has clearly been cherished in its 45 year life. The car will come with a full service and fresh 12 months MOT upon sale.
