• Jaguar Heritage certificateA very fine matching numbers Jaguar Mk 2 3. 8, owned since 2015 with 5 former keepers. The mileage is recorded at 84, 210, believed to be true, supported by many test certificates going back to 1981, when the mileage was 64, 077.
The car looks splendid in Opalescent Dark Blue over red leather, following a complete respray in 2014 from its original colour of Golden Sand. The paintwork looks great and there is little or no rust to be found anywhere on the vehicle. The chrome work is slightly less than perfect but still presents well. The interior is also in good condition and a pair of period competition seats in matching red leather (but not fitted), is included in the sale.
As can be seen from the specification, whilst retaining much originality, the car has been considerately upgraded over the years and can be driven enthusiastically. The blueprinted engine is a particular delight, free revving, sounding wonderful and eager to please. A Tremec five-speed gearbox with a tall 5th gear was installed in 2017, this improved the drivability hugely; the original (slightly crunchy) Moss box with overdrive is included in the sale if required.
The bulging history file includes many invoices detailing costs over the years, the biggest expenditure being with with CKL Developments, the East Sussex based Jaguar specialists.
I am selling the car, part of a larger collection, simply because it doesn’t get used enough, having covered only 2000 miles over the past 8 years. Cosmetically and mechanically the car is sound, it has received regular servicing and attention to detail during my ownership and I am sure it will prove a joy to its next owner.
