Launched at the 1997 British Motor Show, the Mantis mated Ford's all-alloy Modular V8 with an updated version of Marcos' spaceframe chassis. The combination of its Anglo-American underpinnings and an outrageous body shape penned by Leigh Adams has made the Mantis one of the marque's most sought-after models.
This 1998 example has covered just 8100 miles since new and features the exceptionally rare 'Coupe' roof. Converted from 'Spyder' to its current specification by ourselves in 2022, which included the fitment of a heated glass rear window, this Mantis provides the classic Marcos GT look with the power and sophistication of a modern performance car.
Given the car's low mileage, it presents extremely well in all areas. Maintained meticulously throughout its life, a large history folder accompanies the car, with the most recent work being a major service.
Metallic Dragon Green bodywork, a lovely colour unique to this Mantis, sits on silver and gold Image split rim wheels. The car's sporting credentials are further enhanced by an OEM spoiler and rear valance. On the inside, tan leather with contrast green piping and carpets are paired with a Burr Elm dashboard.
This Mantis comes with a spare wheel in addition to all of the usual Marcos options, including an electrically adjustable pedal box, electric mirrors, air conditioning and power steering.
