A very nice UK supplied example of the lovely to drive and much underrated GT4 model that has covered 47, 870 miles from new with a full and comprehensive service history.

Finished in Rosso Chiaro from new, it features the desirable factory extras of wide wheels, leather interior and air conditioning.

This was a late example of the GT4 model produced in November 1979 to the order of UK importer Maranello Concessionaires Ltd. It was supplied on the 15 May 1980 by Ferrari Sub Dealer Huxford of Fareham to its first owner, a Mr Michael Minihane, of Bournemouth. Huxfords carried out the first two services in the year of supply and then Ferrari main dealer Emblem Sports Cars, who later became Nigel Mansell Sports Cars maintained the car until 1989 at which point it had completed 34, 218 miles. The original stamped service book and invoicing on file confirms and details the work completed.

For the next ten years until 1999 noted Ferrari specialist Nick Cartwright Specialist Cars and Bob Watson of Solihull cared for the Ferrari, again confirmed in service stamps and invoicing, the mileage rising in this period to 41, 300 miles. Subsequently the 308 continued to be carefully maintained until 2015 and 46, 000 miles by a number of noted specialists, all of which is detailed in invoicing on file.

In 2015 the Ferrari was offered for sale by the established and well regarded Ferrari specialists Forza 288 based in Dorset and in September of that year it was purchased by an enthusiast following an inspection by marque aficionado Terry Hoyle.

At this time the Dino was described by Forza 288 as a good and usable 308, one of the last produced with original paint and interior. As one would expect really considering the limited use and careful maintenance the car had received over the 35 years of its life at this point. The new owner however was looking for a higher level of condition and to this end a restoration programme commenced. The car was stripped and the body returned to bare metal, repaired as required and refinished in the original colour. The drivetrain and ancillaries were inspected and refurbished as required and the interior retrimmed in cream leather, much of this work was completed by Ferrari specialists Kent High Performance Cars as detailed in invoicing on file amounting to in excess of £30, 000.

In 2019 Kent High Performance Cars offered the 308 for sale at which point it was bought by a regular Hairpin customer with a fine collection and the highest standards. This purchase ended his extensive search for a fine 308 GT4 during which he had inspected fifteen examples. These exceptional examples of more moderately priced classics are the truly rare and most prized cars. Understandable when one considers that significantly more than the value of the car needs to be spent to make them thus way.

The 308 was fully prepared by Kent High Performance Cars prior to supply and it has been returned to them subsequently for servicing and maintenance, the last time in August 2023 at 48, 088 miles for oil service, cambelt service and ancillary work as required.

Today the 308 remains in exceptional order in all respects and must be the finest example available. It comes with the above-mentioned extensive history file, all books including the original stamped service book in the correct wallet, all keys tools and lastly a rather fine period correct Becker Europa with modern internals has been supplied and fitted by vintage radio experts Chrome London.

A lovely example of the very usable 308 GT4 model and exceptional value for money.
