Bodywork / Exterior:
The model presented is a FERRARI 308 GTS from January 1978 in its original "Blu Chiaro 503" colour (matching colours).
The bodywork of this example was restored a few years ago.
It remains in excellent presentational condition today, displaying a uniform finish and excellent gloss.
Following professional orbital polishing by our workshop, we noted a paint defect on the lower passenger door edge and paint chips on the driver's door edge
The gradient "Blu" windscreen is in excellent condition.
We noted a small chip on the driver's window trim.
The bumpers are perfectly aligned and in excellent condition, with no signs of impact, cracks or deformation.
The pop-up headlights function perfectly and show no signs of cracks or sealing issues.
The original "Nero" Targa roof is in very good condition and its sealing remains compliant with period standards.
The boot lid catch is non-functional.
The 4 aluminium 14-inch wheels are in excellent condition.
They are fitted with 4 MICHELIN XWX tyres with wear of 10% at the front and 20% at the rear.
This example has its original spare wheel.
Amongst the interesting "Bodywork / Exterior" equipment and options present on this model, we noted: The gradient "Blu" windscreen, the original "Nero" Targa roof.
Interior:
The interior was completely refurbished in 2024 (Invoice €3, 216).
The "Beige & Nero" leather upholstery is in excellent condition, with no signs of damage.
The leather door panels and "Beige" pockets are in excellent condition.
The "Nero" leather dashboard is in good original condition.
We noted a small tear on the dashboard cap.
All the VEGLIA-BORLETTI instrument cluster and comfort equipment function perfectly, with the exception of the original air conditioning.
The VEGLIA-BORLETTI clock functions perfectly.
As is often the case with models from these years, the operation of the original electric windows remains slow.
The original 3-spoke MOMO "Nero" leather steering wheel displays a light and uniform patina.
The original bakelite gear knob is in excellent condition
The "Beige" carpets are in good condition.
Amongst the interesting "interior" equipment this example is fitted with, we noted:
Electric windows, brand new "Beige & Nero" leather upholstery and the period KENWOOD cassette radio.
Chassis:
Lifting on the ramp confirms a sound shell, with no visible signs of accident or apparent structural corrosion
The fundamentals: chassis, floors, side members, sills and wheel arches are in good condition.
Standard caveat: as a matter of principle we cannot guarantee perfect alignment beyond their good visual and functional condition validated during the road test and ramp inspection.
During the dynamic test, we noted no abnormal parasitic noise at the level of the shell or running gear (ball joints, bushes, etc.).
Braking is stable, aligned and compliant with period standards, with no vibrations or abnormal noises.
The front brake discs show 40% wear and their pads 30% wear.
The rear brake discs show 35% wear and their pads 15% wear.
The MOT test carried out by our workshop prior to delivery will confirm the proper functioning of everything.
Engine / Transmission:
The mechanics function perfectly.
The distribution kit was replaced in 2025 at 23, 541 miles (Invoice €2, 617), comprising: water pump, belt, alternator, tensioner pulleys, engine oil change and carburettor and ignition adjustment.
The road test and engine compression readings carried out by our workshop confirm a V8 in excellent health.
The V8 starts first time and the idle is stable as confirmed by the 360° video taken with the engine running and available at the beginning of the photo gallery.
The cold oil pressure reading is 85 psi at 1, 100 rpm.
Once up to temperature, the engine picks up revs smoothly with no hesitation or overheating.
The engine note is enhanced by the 4 stainless steel outlets.
The 5 gears of the manual gearbox engage and disengage easily, with no issues particularly with the synchros.
The clutch grip is good.
As is often the case with classic vehicles, engine/ gearbox sealing remains average.
Our listing details the condition of the vehicle precisely through the Bodywork / Exterior, Interior, Chassis and Engine / Transmission sections.
