Description
Launched in 1962, the sporty Triumph Spitfire shared the same chassis as the Herald and Vitesse saloons, giving the company a much needed boost in attracting a different market suiting customers who didn't want the larger TR sports cars of the time. The Spitfire evolved over the next two decades with the pretty MK4 shape emerging in 1971 originally with a 1300cc engine and then onto the last of the line 1500 model.
A local car from new, this delightful Triumph Spitfire was supplied new to Whites Garage, Camberley in August 1978. With just 5 previous owners, the last since 1989, the car has clearly been cherished by each and as such is in remarkable condition.
Substantially restored in 2001, with supporting receipts, the bodywork remains in very good condition with bright, glossy paintwork and good panel fit, it is on the button and usefully has overdrive fitted making longer journeys more pleasant.
The thick history file includes old MoT certificates and receipts for maintenance carried out, including many from ourselves.
A great first classic with straightforward mechanicals, excellent parts back up and cheap to insure, what's not to like!
Available to view in our dry, well lit sales barn by appointment please.
