Description
DEPOSIT TAKEN. This lovely Original Factory built Austin 7 Van with correct supporting chassis and build numbers has been with its last owner 46 years after acquiring this very original van in 1978 in need of restoration. The Van was supplied new in 1934 to Maidstone Corp / Local Council with supporting paperwork registered as BKM 703 from new and is believed to remained in service until just after the end of the Second World War when it was then sold off and being acquired by a local pluming firm in Tunbridge Wells, to which the Van still supports its livery on completion of the restoration. When acquired by the last owner in 1978 to complement his collection of Austin Severns, the van was restored between 1990 and 1996 with the van bodywork being restored by the now late coach builder John Heath who was well known for his accurate detail on Austin 7 Van bodies. On completion of the Austin restoration whilst en route to a show on a trailer the Austin and trailer were caught up in altercation causing damage to the restored body. Back to John Heath for another restoration which cost more than the insurance company were willing to fund and caused the vehicle to receive a Category D notification. The mileage of 5071 is the mileage recorded from zero in 1997 and this is supported with previous mot certificates. Once restored the vehicle has been driven to shows and events covering a few hundred miles each year since. In 2022 the Austin has its 4 speed gearbox overhauled, just been fully serviced and running very sweetly, this delightful Austin 7 Van is ready to be showed and enjoyed. Offered with Hand Book, Period Jack, Tools and tool roll, shod with excellent Avon tyres this Austin 7 truly wants for nothing, the decal livery was applied using graphics so it can easily be changed to support another livery without damaging the bodywork. A rare opportunity to acquire an original survivor of a factory Van as the majority offered are converted cars. Looking for a new owner to love and cherish.
