Description
An unusual opportunity to acquire a very rare and complete project RHD Zagato for restoration.
History of this car
This Fulvia Sport 1600 is 1 of approximately 50 UK RHD examples imported. It was registered new on 08. 01. 1973 finished in Rosso San Siro and issued with an appealing registration number RJW 999L, which goes with the car.
It has had six owners the previous two being long term custodians. There are MOTs going back to the 1980s and a decent history file back to the 1970s, with service history and engine rebuild accounts from the late Roger Perry.
At some point the car has been partially stripped awaiting a restoration that never happened, and the car is sold as a restoration project.
Bodywork
There is rust in all the usual places although we have seen worse. The rust is most acute in the subframe mount area. The floors and some panels such as the boot lid and doors are better than you might expect and the swage line is sharp. A complete body restoration is required; some new sill panels are included.
The glass is all good ditto the stainless trim (nb: some items of trim such as the grille, lights etc have been loosely assembled to demonstrate completeness).
Mechanics
No attempt has been made to start the car, although the motor turns easily and relatively little mileage has been covered since the engine was overhauled in 1989. A P. D Gough stainless exhaust is fitted.
The engine fitted is “matching numbers” to the chassis and the unique to the Zagato 1600 gearbox is installed.
Interior
Our car features an original cream fur interior. The dashboard is partially dismantled, although all removed parts are present. A new headlining and tailor made carpet set are included.
Boot
Correct carpeting, underlays, spare and spare cover all in place.
Summary
Your chance to revive a fast and rare Zagato, in a cool colour!
