SUMMARY
Supplied by Normand, Wembley, this 1987 190D 2. 0 only covered a mere 33k miles in the first 25 years of its life, however between 2012-2019 it was pressed into service as a real life Taxi, and covered just over 150, 000 service miles in that period. Its always been said that these older Mercedes Diesels were the perfect Taxi, and this car is living proof of that. I absolutely love this car, it has real character, and moreover its earned its keep, and has a very interesting story behind it too. Whats more amazing even at 25 years old plus, it easily passed the infinitely more stringent annual "Taxi Test" which makes the MOT look like a walk in the park; quite an achievement for a vehicle of this age, and again underlines just how good these cars are.
As you'd expect for the vehicle that had to be kept in tip top condition, Service history is simply colossal, and in addition to the bulging A4 lever arch file and stamped service book, a hand written log accompanies the vehicles that documents every single penny of expenditure, together with date and mileage. This is one of the most comprehensive service histories I've seen.
The drive is superb, it's tight, responsive and there's no unwanted noises at all, in fact its a real pleasure. The engine is in superb order and at the MOT Tester commented that the emissions were that of a much lower mileage engine.
Although I've carried out quite a bit of work on this car, I'm selling this car on a kind of "as is" basis, but "as is" in this case is actually very good. There's a few blemishes on the bodywork, but its presents extremely well and mechanically its fantastic, and dare I say it, at 182, 500 miles, its not even run in yet! These older Mercedes Diesels are so addictive to drive, but this one has really got under my skin more than most, however after having it in my possession for two years, and an R107 on the way, its time for someone else to enjoy it.
THE MTSV DIFFERENCE
Unlike some, I don’t just simply go out, buy any old car, give it a good clean, then advertise it for more than the purchase price, disregarding any issues the car may have in the hope the new buyer won’t notice…I just couldn’t do that. The cars I source are carefully selected and I work very hard so that when my cars leave me, I have the satisfaction of knowing they are as good as they possibly can be within the constraints I have. As such I have many repeat customers and new customers that have been recommended via word of mouth…the ultimate accolade for anyone in business.
