2000 Honda Integra Type R. One family owner, serviced every 1, 481 miles.
The first generation Type R, codenamed DC2, was introduced in its home market in 1995 and was the second Type R product after the Honda NSX first got the treatment. The car immediately impressed and helped it become UK-bound only two years later.
The UK were allocated 500 official units that were sold through Honda dealers up until 2001. It was the only Integra Type R model to be officially imported with its replacement, the DC5 being sold exclusively in Japan.
The hand built 1. 8-litre four-cylinder is unruly, with a naturally aspirated 187bhp, adopting Honda’s VTEC variable valve timing capable of an 8700rpm redline. Weighing in at only 1125kg, the Type R adopted various weight saving features including a thinner windscreen, absence of sound deadening and light-weight alloy wheels
The car was widely applauded by motoring pundits, many of which heralding the car as the best handling front wheel drive car of all time, the absolute driver focus, taught chassis, steering weight, gear change and absence of torque and understeer helping to earn its crown.
Supplied new by Honda dealer Webbers of Basingstoke in March 2000, finished in Milano Red with black Dinamica Alcantara/ Cloth interior. Additional dealer fitted options consisting of front fog lights and alloy drilled pedals. During the following 19 years the car was kept by its first owner who meticulously maintained the car every year during his ownership. In 2019, the car was sold to the owner’s son-in-law who bought the car to retain within the family’s ownership. Subsequently, the car was never used but stored correctly in a heated garage during his tenure. In the last twelve months, the owner has moved to the Channel Islands and feels that the car is now ready to go to a new home.
We have carefully gone through the car and serviced, replaced the cam-belt and water pump, conducted an A/ C service, including a replacement condenser and replaced 4 tyres. A comprehensive clean of all suspension components along with the application of protective clear wax has been undertaken.
