1950 MG YT four seat Tourer

The Y Series MG has a special place in MG history as it was the first production model to feature independent front suspension and rack and pinion steering. Originally designed in 1938/ 9, and intended for launch at the 1940 Motor Show, hostilities meant that it was 1947 before production began.

The open tourer version of the popular MG Y Series saloon was never a common sight on British roads as the model only had a production run of 877 between 1948 - 1950 and a large percentage were exported.

The YT as the model was known, offered brisker performance than its saloon counterpart, as the engine was in the same state of tune as the TC two-seater.

A maximum speed of 76 mph was quoted and the car was a worthy rival to contemporary small tourers such as the Sunbeam - Talbot Ten and the Singer 4AD.

This example underwent an extensive restoration in the US, before returning home around five years ago.

Presented in extremely good order, she represents a rare opportunity to acquire a charming, family sized MG that is also quite a rarity.

More photographs and a video will be updated as soon as she arrives.
