Description

HERE is my superb 1983 Mark 2 Ford Granada 2. 8 Ghia in black. This beauty has had just two owners from new. The first, an Edinburgh Garage, kept her for three years before selling to the gentleman from whom I acquired it. It was to remain in his fastidious ownership for the following 39 years!

She appears to be highly original and is more than likely still wearing her original paint. It polishes up to a glass-like finish. She has spent quite a number of years in comfortable, dry storage which will account for this amazing condition. We have original wheel arches, great wings and an amazing engine bay where the inner wings and front corner shuts are just incredible. Door bottoms are great - and by that I mean both the outer skins as well as the actual underneaths. They feel like new. Boot floor is excellent too. Factory spot welds are in strong evidence everywhere you look around this fantastic survivor. I am told that she was used as a Mayoral car (chauffer driven Mayor's car) but I have no written evidence. One would imagine that the chrome emblem assembly in the middle of the bonnet front more than likely houses a neat little flag!

Great underneath too with jacking points. Her interior is delightful. So typically Ford Ghia standard. It even smells like a Ford of that era. If you know, then you know! Lovely sweet engine and on the key. I have managed to get three of the four windows working on their buttons and the same goes for the door mirrors. Electric seats work too. I repeat that body-wise, she is an amazing example.

I must also point out that the sunroof - totally rust free in every area - works in both positions and is fantastically clean. All four drain holes are perfect!

In fact she is so impressive and original looking that the worst cosmetic areas I can spot a few thumbnail-size pieces of surface rust underneath the rear screen. These areas do not spoil the overall look of this gracious Granada Ghia! I have driven her round the compound several times in order to warm her through. The brakes do stop the car but the pedal seems a lot firmer when the engine is switched off. Servo maybe? I don't know. But a light re-commission and service would doubtless do this proud old girl the power of good.

She has clearly been much loved and this is a car that deserves that affection to continue long into the future. MoT and tax free as well as ULEZ exempt. What a car for cruising around London!

She is here for sale at Martin Howey Classics (Est. 26 years) and I can also assist with delivery so please contact me for a quote. Thanks, Martin. the details below.
