THE FERRARI 458 ITALIA
The Ferrari 458 Italia was officially unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, as the much-anticipated replacement for the F430, in the mid-engine, V8-powered model range. In keeping with Ferrari tradition, the body was designed by Pininfarina under the supervision of Ferrari's design chief, Donato Coco. The car's exterior styling and features were designed for aerodynamic efficiency, producing a downforce of 140 kg (309 lb) at 200 km/ h (120 mph). Applying lessons learned in Formula 1, the front grille features deformable winglets that flexed at high speeds, in order to reduce drag and redirect cooling airflow. The car's interior was designed with input from former Ferrari Formula 1 driver Michael Schumacher; in a layout common to racing cars, the new steering wheel incorporates many controls normally located on the dashboard or on stalks. The 458 Italia continued the rapid evolution of Ferrari's beloved V8 mid-engine range, moving the goalposts yet again terms of performance, handling, and technology.
THE CAR OFFERED
This 2014 458 Italian offered from The Orange Collection was delivered new via Ferrari of Newport Beach, California. It's entry into this collection comes via the rarely seen special-order color of Rosso Dino, an $11, 885 option from the Ferrari Historical Colour catalogue. In addition to the beautiful red-orange shade and black leather upholstery, this car is desirably equipped with a parking camera, 20" dark finish forged wheels, carbon fiber racing seats, colored stitching, yellow calipers, and Scuderia shields. At the time of cataloguing, the odometer showed just 8, 845 miles, and the accompanying CARFAX report is clean, with no reported damage history and regular servicing. Accompanying items include owner's manuals, radio code card, window sticker, and a car cover.
Featuring Formula 1 derived technology clothed in an aggressive yet elegant Pininfarina design, the 458 Italia will undoubtably remain high on the list of Ferrari collectors for years to come. This car's desirable specification and fabulous historic livery should place it high on your list.
