Lot 7
The Chris Skellern Collection
1965 Honda CB160
Registration no. HKH 842C
Frame no. Bthe details below
Engine no. B160E-1073423
Launched in 1964, the CB160 followed the pattern of previous Honda parallel twins, though with 360-degree crankshaft layout rather than the larger twins' 180-degree type, and used the recently introduced tubular spine frame and telescopic forks. Small as a '125' yet packing a 16. 5bhp punch, the CB160's excellent power-to-weight ratio and fine handling endowed it with performance at least equal to that of most British 250s. With an overhead-camshaft engine, electric starter, rev counter and a twin-leading-shoe front brake, the CB160's specification and degree of refinement was unmatched by any its home-grown rivals. It is now one of the most desirable of early Japanese classics.

This imported model was first registered in the UK on 1st April 2019; our vendor is the Honda's sole owner in the UK. The machine has been rebuilt since its arrival in this country, and some 1, 000 miles have been covered since the rebuild's completion with the engine having been rebuilt by the vendor which included new piston rings, cam chain, exhaust valve and new kickstart gears, seal and gaskets. The carburettors were ultrasonically cleaned and rebuilt. Notable features include new-old-stock genuine silencers and late-type front forks. The current odometer reading is 8, 020 miles. The machine is offered with a V5C Registration Certificate; DVLA correspondence; three keys; and a quantity of invoices for parts and services used in its restoration.

All lots are sold 'as is/ where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding. Visit the Bonhams Motorcycles website for all pertinent auction information.
